Astrologers seldom get opportunities to learn how to pick good dates in advance. Picking a date in the future is quite different than reading the chart once it's picked. This class will teach you how to scan fr good dates, and how to apply this to yourself and your clients, as well as methods to spot and create the really serious electionals, compared to the simpler types.

Day 1: We review the rules of universal elections, and how to prioritize the rules base. We will also discuss the practicalities of what to elect, electional series, and how to generally pick a good day.

Day 2: We consider how to work with the dynamics of the chart and the prospect of electionals: how do we tell what is probable, possible, or difficult, depending upon the nativity

Day 3: We look at electional series, we consider how to create your own time maps and subject maps, and how to tweak your results to best effect.

Now that you understand the general principles of astrological medicine through the STA Medical Practitioner's Course, this course takes you deeper into the primary sources, and combines ideas from modern practitioners of the Arabic tradition of medicine, with cutting edge ideas in herbalism, and other alternative systems of medicine to address the  astrological considerations behind such issues as the similars-antipathy debate, the astrological considerations of purges and cleanses, and the mechanisms of tolerance and addiction.

This course consists of ten lessons which require extensive home study to complete. You will study three 17th century medical practitioners in detail, comparing and contrasting their methods, and thereby developing a working system for how practice actually occurred. This will be compared to the developments of Paracelsan medicine, and how alchemy and magic affected the understanding of traditional practice. You will learn and apply the frameworks used for the construction of herbals, and thereby address the question of how to apply these traditional concepts to plants from different parts of the globe. The same logic can be applied to other traditional methods of therapy, whether baths, fumigations, or cupping.

Put this together with additional work on the systems of timing, and the graduate of this course will have a nuanced understanding of this complex, but very logical system.

In our current era of possibly over-engineered medical intervention, in which care is often substituted for cure, many people choose to explore traditional medicine as an adjunct to modern treatment. It is here that medical astrology holds importance: Medical astrology is not a form of medicine, but an add-on to traditional medicine. It provides a timing system, and an alternate method for evaluating the dynamics of humoral distribution in the body. In traditional medicine, the humors are the four primary fluids which mediate the health and physiology of the organism.

As a sophisticated system which developed over many centuries, medical astrology has various facets and cuts across many of the conventional astrological subdivisions:

  • Natal astrological applications include characterizing each person in terms of their elemental balance (thereby constructing a healthy lifestyle) and studying their disease susceptibilities by traditional organ type.

  • Horary applications include questions concerning the development of disease, and the study of decumbitures (astrological charts set for the onset of a disease or condition).

  • Electional applications include selecting times for surgery, the commencement of a treatment protocol, or the commencement of any other medical procedure.

  • Dynamic applications include studying the chart for future periods of stress that could indicate the development of chronic disease.

  • Psycho-spiritual applications include considering the ways that obstructions to the soul’s functioning and purpose back up into the body as disease.

Graduates of the STA Medical Practitioner's Course may apply to study in the STA Masters Course by applying through this course.

sustainabilityMundane astrology is arguably the oldest branch of astrology. It is devoted to the study of events on a larger scale than individual human beings. Astro-meteorology (the study of astrological influences upon weather) is a sub-branch, but the main track studies the correlation of the events confronting groups of people – tribes, cities, states, businesses – and astrological events.

The purpose of this Course is to teach not only the concepts of contest or warfare astrology, but to teach the research methods you will need to know in order to optimize your own model. Students will be provided with the Super Bowl data in the Microsoft Access database as a starting point, along with several sports data set chart files.
